Christmas Festivities
“Deck the halls with boughs of holly …. This the season to be jolly…”
The Christmas season has come! It makes us envision joy, laughter, dance, and general merriness around. Christmas is a season of magic, togetherness, family, food, and gifts. What was originally a two-week Roman Pagan Holiday, honoring the agricultural God – Saturn, became a celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ to now, in its current avatar, a more than a month-long celebration! It has surpassed not only the Christian nations but enveloped the whole world in its warmth, joy & magic!
The season of giving comes during some of the darkest wintry days and makes the world look forward to hot chocolate and the warmth of being together with their loved ones. Everyone looks forward to this period of the year when they can let go of the stresses of their life and just enjoy themselves in the warm cocoon of their dear ones. Christmas also brings with it hope and a promise of better things to come! There are magic and miracles in the air!
Christmas festivities start with being thankful for all that we have, spending time together to bake, and eat, and choosing thoughtful gifts for loved ones to see that special smile on their face. Across the World, shops slowly fill their shelves with baked goodies, holiday cards, and a lot of tinsel. Slowly, smaller shelves give way to burgeoning aisles full of holly, mistletoe, flowers, candles, gifts, tree décor to garlands full of blooming flowers in all sizes, shapes, and colors. Dark, dreary skies fill up with magical lights, in a myriad of colors and designs that beckon each one to believe in the magic!
Special events are organized in every nook and corner to participate in bake sales, helping the needy, games, to bakeries showcasing scrumptious cakes, biscuits, cookies, gingerbread in the shape of trees, baubles, bells, and whatnot. Even Santa Claus joins the fun, keeping his nice or naughty list aside. He ensures that every child’s wish for Christmas is heard! Each one gets a special moment with the portly, jolly, white-bearded Father Christmas!
And how can we forget the special Hallmark Movies to cement our faith in the magic of Christmas? From wonderful days to new beginnings, Santa, and his elves fulfilling each wish to warm the green hearts of envy… We enjoy each aspect of this holiday season!
Christmas is a special time across the world. It is a season of joy, of giving, and of hoping that the next season brings with it special blessings and joy across the year! As Andy Williams wrote,
“It’s the hap-happiest season of all, with those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings! When friends come to call, It’s the hap-happiest season of all!
With the kids jingle belling, and everyone telling you to be of good cheer, It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!
