The White House announced that First Lady Jill Biden will represent the United States at the coronation of King Charles III next month. President Joe Biden expressed his desire to meet with the king in the UK in the future. He said his wife was honored to attend the ceremony on behalf of the US. During the call, they also discussed the strong relationship between their countries and the friendship between their peoples.

Last year, the President and the First Lady jointly attended the funeral of Elizabeth II in London. It is notable that no sitting US president has ever attended a British royal coronation. However, the First Lady’s attendance signifies the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic ties between the US and the UK.

The coronation will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. King Charles III’s wife, Camilla, has been officially identified as Queen Camilla for the first time. Buckingham Palace has used the title on invitations for the event. The new title marks a significant milestone in Camilla’s journey, which began with her being derided as a homewrecker because of her role in the breakdown of Charles’ marriage to the late Princess Diana.
