Ukraine’s first Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emine Dzhaparova, will embark on an official visit to Delhi on Sunday, marking the first visit of a senior minister from Ukraine to India since the Ukraine-Russia war began on February 24th, 2022. The visit is expected to focus on discussions between Dzhaparova and Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), regarding bilateral relations and the current situation in Ukraine, as well as global issues of mutual interest.

Sources suggest that the Minister will discuss assistance in the reconstruction of Ukraine, which has been ravaged by the war, and will be seeking additional humanitarian aid. The Ukrainian government has requested aid in the form of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and energy equipment to help rebuild infrastructure damaged during the conflict.

During her visit, Dzhaparova will also meet with Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi and Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri. The visit is an opportunity to further mutual understanding and interests between the two countries, which have enjoyed warm and friendly relations and cooperation in areas such as trade, education, culture, and defense over the past 30 years of diplomatic relations.
