AWE Meet in Tirupati

Jennifer Larson, the US Consul General in Hyderabad, inaugurated the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) meeting at one of the universities in Tirupati. The AWE program is sponsored by the US Consulate General in Hyderabad and aims to empower women entrepreneurs. The program will include participation from 100 women, divided into cohorts of 25 each from Tirupati, Warangal, Visakhapatnam, and Bhubaneswar. The multi-month program is funded by the US Consulate.

During the inauguration, Larson and US Public Diplomacy Officer Jonathan Orr were warmly received by the team. Larson highlighted the significance of women’s participation in entrepreneurship and the formal economy, expressing the US government’s priority in advancing this cause.

Prof. Bharathi expressed gratitude for choosing the varsity’s Women Biotech Incubation Facility (WBIF) to promote women’s entrepreneurship within the Tirupati cohort. Around 30 prospective entrepreneurs shared their thoughts during the event. The university’s Technology Business Incubator (SSIIE-TBI) was also visited by Larson, where she received a presentation on the achievements of the incubator from its secretary S. Jyothi and CEO J. Surya Kumar.
