In a recent episode of American Horror Story: Delicate, Kim Kardashian’s character, Siobhan, delivered a sharp critique of the controversy surrounding Olivia Wilde’s film, Don’t Worry Darling.

During the episode, Siobhan advises Emma Roberts’ character, Anna, on how to handle the press after a fainting incident at an awards show. She suggests using a “Wilde card,” referencing Olivia Wilde and the Don’t Worry Darling press tour. Siobhan recommends avoiding discussion of the incident, waiting for people to forget, and subtly gaslighting those who inquire, implying they’re the problem due to sexism.

The controversy surrounding Don’t Worry Darling’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival centered on a supposed feud between director Olivia Wilde and star Florence Pugh, stemming from Wilde’s relationship with Harry Styles during filming. Shia LaBeouf’s release of a video showing Wilde referring to Pugh as “Miss Flow” added fuel to the fire. The controversy highlighted the unequal treatment of female directors in comparison to male directors who commit more significant offenses.

As a result, Florence Pugh chose not to participate in press activities for the film, following the advice echoed by Siobhan’s character in the show.

This episode is part of the 12th season of American Horror Story, known for its clever references to controversial pop culture moments. In a nod to Kim Kardashian’s past Marilyn Monroe dress incident, Siobhan has Anna wear a dress that once belonged to Madonna, cautioning her, “Do not rip it.”

The episode cleverly addresses the gender bias and controversies prevalent in the entertainment industry, drawing parallels to real-life events.
