Apala Mishra, a skilled dentist, has achieved an incredible feat by not only passing the Civil Services Examination but also securing the top position, setting a new record.
Originally from Basti, Uttar Pradesh, Apala Mishra hails from a family residing in Ghaziabad. Her father, Amitabh Mishra, recently retired as a Colonel in the army, while her brother currently serves as a Major. Education has always been highly valued in Apala’s family, and her own passion for learning has propelled her academic success from a young age. After completing her 10th grade in Dehradun, she pursued her 11th and 12th grades in Rohini, Delhi. She then obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) from Army College. However, driven by her desire to serve society, she aspired to become an IAS officer.
After completing her medical studies, Apala Mishra decided to dedicate herself to preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations instead of practicing dentistry. Although her initial attempt in 2018 did not yield the desired result, she remained undeterred. She intensified her efforts and focused on rigorous preparation. Initially seeking guidance from coaching classes, she eventually transitioned to self-study. In her second attempt at the UPSC exam, she faced another setback but remained resilient. Finally, in 2020, she made her third attempt and not only qualified but also secured a place among the top 10 candidates.
During the interview round, IAS Apala Mishra achieved the highest score that year, surpassing the previous record. She scored 215, surpassing the previous high of 212 set in 2019. Apala’s daily study routine of seven to eight hours, along with effective time management, played a crucial role in her success. In 2022, she secured the 9th rank in the prestigious examination.
Apala Mishra’s exceptional achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring civil servants, highlighting the power of determination and hard work. Her story emphasizes the transformative impact of education and the unwavering support of her family in nurturing her academic pursuits.
