Today’s women exhibit remarkable leadership and professional growth across diverse domains, boldly expressing their perspectives. However, this journey towards prominence wasn’t always smooth, with women of previous generations having to navigate numerous obstacles to reach the status quo.

As we celebrate Women’s Day in 2024, it’s imperative to shine a spotlight on women who are forging ahead as leaders in the field of education.

Mukti Dagli: Muktaben Pankajkumar Dagli epitomizes educational leadership, founding a non-profit organization in Surendranagar dedicated to providing education, sustenance, and shelter to visually impaired girls. Despite losing her vision to meningitis at age 7, Dagli’s determination saw her overcoming hurdles, persuading her parents to enroll her in a school for the blind. In 1995, alongside her husband, she established a residential school exclusively for blind girls, emphasizing vocational training and life skills to foster independence. Her exemplary social work earned her the prestigious Padma Shri in 2019.

Roshni Mukherjee: Roshni Mukherjee is a pioneer in online education, dedicating herself to offering free learning opportunities to children through her platform Learnohub (formerly Examfear). While at Wipro, Mukherjee launched the Examfear YouTube channel in 2011, providing complimentary lectures on physics, chemistry, and mathematics for students. Witnessing the channel’s success, she left her IT job at Hewlett Packard to focus on Learnohub, supported by her software engineer husband. Today, Learnohub offers high-quality education to students nationwide without any fees, earning Mukherjee recognition including the Edutuber President award and a spot among India’s 100 Women Achievers in the Limca Book of World Records.

Sudha Murthy: Sudha Murthy, former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, has been a stalwart advocate for women’s rights and a key figure in advancing education. Through the Infosys Foundation, Murthy has raised awareness about education and contributed significantly to philanthropic endeavors. Additionally, she has served as a professor at Christ University and is celebrated as a prolific author, with her inspirational books like “Mother I Never Knew” and “How I Taught My Grandmother To Read” inspiring readers of all ages to embrace the joy of reading.

These women exemplify the transformative power of education and leadership, inspiring generations to come with their resilience, innovation, and dedication to making a difference in the world.
